How many times have you worn a total black look? People always say “I love black, you can always wear it without being wrong” or “it helps look so slim”, “it’s my go-to outfit”, but I really can’t relate to it. This is my first total black look for as far as I can remember.
Even now I haven’t managed to wear a total black look, regardless of my intention. I’ve honestly tried so many times to pull off one, but as soon as I see myself on the mirror, I change my outfit. While a total black outfit is a statement by itself if styled on point, when I am wearing one I feel that it doesn’t suit much. It’s just too dark for me. Which is not the case for my all-time favorite, white-on-white look.
If you feel the same way, you can take it step by step by adding some pop of color with your accessories. My beautiful scarf “L’autre nuit” from the Parisian accessories brand From A Friend Of Mine, was a perfect choice for that look. When I got it, I thought that it would look great with a leather jacket and as I saw them together I was sure. It’s print reminds of Xmas lights or a starry sky don’t you think?
As for the look, I figured that since the color is black, I had to create some juxtapositions with textures. Nothing looks dowdier than an all-cotton total black outfit. I wore black skinny jeans, a knit sweater, suede boots, leather jacket and finished with cat-eye sunglasses and a few jewelries.
Do you wear total black outfits? What’s your go-to between total black and all-white?
