Navy Military Coat & Metallic Pleated Skirt in Vienna – Day 2

navy military coat in Vienna

I was so looking forward to wear this navy military coat. Apparently I chose one of the coldest days and cities to wear it but it was absolutely worth it. While we were in Vienna, our camera was always with us so we took these photos right across the street from our hotel.

Military coats like this never get out of style and it’s a wardrobe staple that truly worth splurging on. You can wear a simple basic outfit like a plain top and jeans, and style it up perfectly with a navy military coat, as it is a statement by itself. I matched it with my metallic pleated skirt (also worn here), with a blue bag bag and belt, both with gold accents. I added a pop of white in my shoes and grey turtleneck sweater to avoid looking too matchy matchy. What do you think? Do you like this kind of coats?

Unfortunately I can’t find the specific navy military coat from Pinko available, but here’s a list of my favourite similar ones that I found online, for all styles and budgets!

On day two we went to explore the historic centre of Vienna by foot. My favorite attraction was the Spanish Riding School, dating back to 1735. The institution can be also found on UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity. After our tour, we got inside the first café-restaurant we found to get warm and to enjoy a hot goulash and Viennese chocolate.

Have you ever been to Vienna? Where was your latest vacation and what did you like the most there? I would love some travel inspiration from you!

Thanks for visiting and have an amazing start to the week! Happy Monday!

xoxo

Gorgeous outfit, Stella! I adore this. I love how the gold details on the shoes, jacket, bag, and sunglasses pull everything together with the metallic skirt.

The Spanish Riding School is by FAR my favourite thing in Vienna. I love watching the ballet of equine dressage underneath the historic chandeliers in the ring. I used to ride competitively, so this place is heaven for me. IF ONLY they had accepted women riders when I was younger… they didn’t then, but they do now.

Anyway, I’m so thrilled about your holiday in Vienna, and I can’t wait to see what is happening with you in 11 days. The suspense is killing me! 🙂 xxxx

Haha I am sure you are going to love it my dear Lisa! It’s just 10 days left now 😉 As for the Spanish Riding School of Vienna, I can’t find words to express how magical it is! If I could I would go again tomorrow! I can’t imagine how it seems to someone who used to ride competitively like you, definitely your kind of place! Glad to know they accept woman now, better late than never right? Sending you love and thank you for your lovely comment! I am always happy to read them! xo

How absolutely stunning is this military-inspired blazer! I have a serious crush on the gold buttons and piping all along the jacket. And I Love the longer, oversized fit. It pairs perfectly with that metallic skirt. I’ve been on the hunt for a belt with gold details and have yet to find the perfect one. I found a larger sized buckle one this week but need something skinner too. I have to also mention those Gucci booties because they are just to die for! You always look so incredibly stylish, feeling inspired as always leaving your blog =)

Gosh this look is so military chic Stella! I’m totally loving the gold buttons and the trim along the lapels of this coat, and how amazing are those gucci shoes. You really styled this to perfection! I’ve never been to Vienna, though I would love to visit this cultural heritage site and try Viennese coffee; thought I wish to be enlightened, what exactly is such coffee? Sounds amazing though! Your pictures are always so gorgeous. Love the new way you styled your metallic pleated skirt. It goes so well with a military jacket, especially one as pretty as yours. I saw this jacket on Instagram and was excited to see more images of it. It fits yo uno well! I went to Vienna when I was around 9 years old so I don’t quite remember it. But I know it’s a beautiful city so I’d love to visit again!

    10/01/2017 / 11:36

Oh, yes! I have long had a couple of military style coats on my wardrobe. But of the longer greatcoat style. These shorter costs are beautiful and almost need a sword hanging at the waist to complete the look. As for that gorgeous pleated skirt. I love it to bits.
My last vacation was to Brugge, in Belgium. It is almost my second home. But that’s another story. What I love most there are my Lifelong Belgian friends; cycling through the narrow streets, along canal paths, and out into the countryside.
Stella. Have you read, ‘Suite Francaise’, and, ‘Fire in the Blood’ by Irene Nemirovsky?
    Kisses, Jo

    • Stella Asteria
      10/01/2017 / 17:47

Hello my dear Jo! I have never been to Belgium and it is definitely on my bucket list. I can really understand how you feel though, a foreign city is much better when you have friends there, the more the merrier! I feel the same way about Munich and Zurich. As for the books I haven’t read them, but if you recommend them I would gladly order them right away! What are they about! Hope you’re having a great week so far! xoxo

    • Jo
      10/01/2017 / 21:51

Nemirovsky born in 1903, fled Russia in 1918 for France. In 1942 she died in Auschwitz. 65 years later her manuscripts were discovered and published. Suite Francaise was hailed as a masterpiece.
There is all Life in her novels. Love, drama, pathos, observation of family. She writes about Life at her time. I forgot to mention:’All Our Wordly Goods’. And they do not have to be read in any order.
I hope you enjoy them, Stella. I did.

What a lovely one gorgeous!! I can see why you couldn’t wait to wear the coat, it’s quite genius if I may say so. Your sense for balancing colors in an outfit never stops to amaze me. Genius to break it off with the white Gucci boots and balance the gold of the coat with the midi skirt. Have never been to Vienna, but pretty sure that you did the gorgeous architecture justice!

I love military coats and yours is just perfect Stella. I believe you’ve been so lucky with the light during this photoshoot considering how dark and grey the weather is in such countries. You are radiant darling, with or without highlighter:p.
I believe my last favorite holiday has been at the north of Italy close to nature. I think a good balance between urban and nature holidays is very rejuvenating for the soul. I’m sure you’d love South Tyrol and you should added in your list, completely different from Rome and rest of Italy but nature makes it up for it.

    Hugs sweetie,

You are so right, I really enjoy too a mix between urban and nature holidays. I have never visited South Tyrol and it must be really beautiful. Hope to visit one day soon! Kisses my dearest!<3
