Yes, I know. It’s still pretty cold outside and it’s impossible to go out without wearing a coat over multiple layers. But who isn’t looking forward to store their winter clothes and to a fresh spring/summer wardrobe, full of light colors and fabrics? Definitely not me, and I wanted to share my excitement for the upcoming sartorial season with you. From pure whites and crochet, to the return of hot pants and neon, this is your absolute guide to the top spring/summer 2020 fashion trends that will rise to the top.
My absolute favorite among spring/summer 2020 fashion trends, are white garments. This trend is very very up my street, as my s/s wardrobe already consists mostly of white pieces, like this amazing white dress that I can’t wait to wear again. We’ve already saw so many white dresses on the runways, with super feminine beautiful details like chantilly lace, bows, cut-out details and puff sleeves. What’s more, this trend is already available on the high street.
Leather continues its domination into spring with designers proving that the trending fabric is not only suitable for colder months. Even though it’s not your typical summer trend, designers have played with pastel tones, lightweight fabrics and items like shorts, which make the trend really wearable for spring and summer.
Trenches are a fantastic example of the classics that never go out of style. Many designers have updated the classic trench coat with pastel colors and voluminous silhouettes for spring/summer 2020, and I am really looking forward to find the perfect one to add to my wardrobe.
We are already seeing new, interesting necklines everywhere. I like this fashion trend a lot because it can really spice up a garment, from a simple white top to a little black dress. Designers played with square and heart necklines, pronounced collars, and I can’t wait to add a few pieces into my spring/summer wardrobe.
Bermuda short suits
With slightly longer shorts than we usually see and wear, the Bermuda short suits are back and will be everywhere this season. I already got one and can’t wait to show you how I wear it. Bottega Veneta, Altuzzara, Givenchy and Dion Lee showcased some amazing Bermuda shorts, but you can definitely get the look for less.
The impact of the lingerie trend into garments is here for spring/summer 2020, as the bra-top craze has already entered the party. The bikini dressing comes in all shapes and textures, and looks just perfect with a high-waisted skirt and pants.
If you love shorts as much as I do, then you must know that they are making a triumphant comeback. From knitted and leather pieces to denim cutoffs with fringe, I am so here for it!
Tiered skirts & dresses
Few garments can feature the volume and the high-drama vibe of a big tiered skirt or dress. It may not be the most wearable trend, but a striking and voluminous tiered dress, is definitely the way to make an memorable entrance.
60’s and 70’s prints & vibes
We saw many trends inspired from that era like big lapels, double breasted blazers, bell bottom jeans, and wallpaper and couch prints. Retro prints took over the runways for spring/summer 2020, bringing a major color and print fix.
For spring/summer 2020, the classic blue is a deeper and more saturated, sapphire blue, and it’sthe most ubiquitous of all color trends for the upcoming season.
A not so wearable fashion trend for spring/summer 2020, and definitely one I’ve never tried even when I was a teenager, is neon. If I find a piece that I really like and think that suits my style, maybe I will try it. But personally, I wouldn’t invest in this trend (like I would with a classic trench coat or a suit for example), as I can’t see this trend coming back in style very soon. Perhaps a neon accessory.
Which one of these spring/summer 2020 fashion trends are you ready to embrace? Which one you think is more wearable? Do you already have a favourite? I would love to read all about it in the comments below!
