Get To Know Me – 10 Random Things About Me

I was recently nominated by my friends Tatjana, and Tori, to write ten random things about me, so you get to know me better.

So here are ten facts about me, that only people who are really close to me know.

1. I do not believe in luck, but in the law of attraction and self-empowerment. I believe we are the architects of our own life. I do not operate on luck. Life is all about choices. If someone wins/creates something, is because he’s good at it. It’s because he believed to it so much that this thing had no other option than to manifest! If you are interested to find out more, please let me know and I will write a post about it, based on facts.

2. I love waking up right before sunrise, when everyone else is sleeping. I think that the energy of these early hours is the best. I start my day with meditation and by eating a huge, healthy breakfast.

Rise & shine..! #mykonos #sunrise #homesweethome

3. I was holding back for many years until I finally created my blog, almost a year ago. Anestis (a.k.a. my love, or the man behind the camera), convinced me to do so, and helped me overcome my fear of what others might think of me.

4. Anestis and I have known each other since we were little kids. Life brought us back together four years ago, and we are inseparable and madly in love ever since.

Matching outfits!💙 #anestakia #weekendstyle

5. My favorite clothes as a child were Victorian style blouses, turtleneck sweaters, off shoulder dresses and tops, as well as white-on-white looks. I recently realized that they still are the cornerstone of my wardrobe.

“You may say I’m a dreamer. But I’m not the only one.”✨ http://liketk.it/2pqfl @liketoknow.it #liketkit #allwhitelook

6. For those of you who compliment my hair and ask me what I do, is that I do not dye them.

7. I play the piano since 18 months old, with breakups and makeups in between, mostly because I move a lot and my baby isn’t easy to carry. Playing the piano is a very private personal expression for me, my psychotherapy, and I really despise it when people tell me “play something for us” (story of my life when I was a kid). So if you ever come to my place, avoid that phrase! Most probably I will play for you myself after a glass of wine. So just pour me some more wine. 😀

8. I own a leading real estate & yachting agency in Mykonos island that I built from scratch, with zero assets or financial support (see about manifestation & self-empowerment above).

9. I am eating healthy by choice, not for my appearance and health. Of course, these are important side benefits but I just happen to prefer much more a nutrient rich salad, than souvlaki and pizza. But I can’t resist to anything chocolate and sweets whatsoever. Oh and cheese since I’ve moved to Paris.

10. I live alone since I was 17. It may be a common thing for teens in other countries like the US for example, but for Greeks who may as well live with their parents until their 40s unless they get married, is not common at all. It was the best decision I’ve ever made!

Bonjour mes amis! ☕️💕

I hope you enjoyed reading these facts about me and please feel free to ask if you want to know something else too.

Now I would like to nominate my dear friends to do the same, so hey Miki, Susanne, Katharina and Emily to share ten things about them.

And now I would love to learn something about you in the comments below! Come on don’t be shy! 😉

I was looking forward to this post since Monday! I read it with a huge smile on my face, while drinking the first coffee of the day.
I should have challenged you with 20 facts about you, I love getting to know more about you Stella!
Although I have to say your personality comes quite clear in your Instagram and your lovely comments.
I agree with you on the first fact, luck is truly a superstition, holds people back from chasing their dreams.
Would love to read more about your opinion on a separate post.

Have a great day Stella and thank you for opening up with us. More please…

I am so glad you like it Tatjana mou and that you nominated me to write this post in the first place! Thank you for this! It might have been the most difficult post for me cowrite, but it was a great practise to open up, so I am really glad I did! 🙂 Great to hear I agree about luck. It usually rubs me the very wrong way when people say to me “oh you’re so lucky to work in Mykonos”, “oh Paris is so beautiful, you are so lucky to live there”, like I was lounging endlessly on my couch, and wined those things in the lottery! I will write and share a post about this topic now Tatjana! Thank you and have a great month of February! xoxo

  2. 01/02/2017 / 11:35

Oh I looove this post Stella, this makes me like your person even more 🙂 I totally share your love for waking up early – it’s so magical when everyone else is sleeping. It makes you feel like you are the only person in the world.
Have great day you lovely Parisienne <3

Thank you Carmen, such a pleasure to hear that from you and likewise my dear! I know right? These early morning hours are magical! Isn’t it ironic that today that I shared this specific post, I woke up at 9? haha! Happy February hun! xo

  3. 01/02/2017 / 14:31

    My dear Stella,
So so happy that you participated and shared some facts about you. You are such a Style Inspiration to many people out there and it’s amazing getting to know you.
I live alone since I am 18 and in my hometown it was somehow something special. I love my family but I needed to escape somehow from the countryside and move to a bigger city and experience life. So I understand you so well in this point.
Thank you so much for all those interesting facts about you!

Thank you my dear Tori for nominating me to write this post. It was actually fun, trying to pick out these 10 facts. I am not surprised you live alone since that age too, we have so many things in common and I can tell you are a woman who has reinvented herself by living alone from such a young age! 🙂 Happy February 1st!

  4. 01/02/2017 / 14:42

What a lovely post, Stella! I really liked reading these personal details and ideas. I completely agree on manifestation; we CREATE luck, it is not given. I think the piano playing is also very interesting. I was forced to take lessons for years as a child and absolutely hated it. My husband plays though, and he is very good (and doesn’t hate it!). Do you have your piano in Paris?

I’d definitely love to read a post on your thoughts on manifestation. xx

    • Stella Asteria
      01/02/2017 / 14:53

Then I would love to write one and share it with you next week my dear Lisa! Piano is wonderful, I really like expressing my feelings with it, it’s like a refugee during hard times, like psychotherapy and also brings me so much joy, and it can make me forget about anything! Unfortunately I don’t have a piano here in Paris and neither in Mykonos. Nowadays I can only play to my father’s home who is a professional pianist! When we settle in our very own apartment it will be the first thing I do. Sure I can’t play like when I was 15 or 20 for example, when I played 10 hours per day, but still.. <3 Thank you for stopping by and happy February! xo

What a wonderful blog, Stella. So much info. that I shall have to read it a few times to take it all in.
I’m sure you know all my secrets. Not the official ones, of course. But two facts you don’t know are my two favourite films, and three favourite books to date. The former are: Before Midnight and Before Sunset, with Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke.
Both filmed in Paris. The latter are: the works of Jane Austin (I love all of them); John Steinbeck’s Cannery Row. A little book by him, but I just love the way he wrote. Finally, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. I have my Mom’s book from when she was a girl, and it has a special place in my heart.
    Happy Feb. 1st. Stella. X

      01/02/2017 / 15:05

I am so glad you like it Jo! And it’s always a pleasure to find out more things about you! 🙂 Wonderful films, I have dreamt about Paris several times, while watching them years ago! Now that you reminded me of them, I have to watch again asap! And yes, Little Women is such a great book and among my favourites too. I love the movie as well and even the cartoon, as in the cartoon Beth plays my favourite composition of Chopin, ‘Fantasie Impromptu’! Happy February my dear Jo!
PS: A film I love recently is ‘5 to 7’, have you seen it?

      • Jo
        01/02/2017 / 18:03

I have never seen the cartoon of Little Women. I shall have to look out for it. The film was on TV recently and I had to have the tissues handy when poor Beth died.
Is that a picture of your piano, Stella? I do not know the make. Is it American?
And has it followed you to Paris?
        Kisses, Jo

          01/02/2017 / 19:51

Ah thanks for asking my dear Jo, this piano has a wonderful story behind it! It’s vintage, made by Winterroth, a company established in 1885 with their factory in New York. Unfortunately, like many American piano companies, they went out of business around 1930 after the Great Depression. Now how do I have this amazing piece? My deceased step-mom was a director at a timber factory. One day, her boss has brought this piano to the factory to cut in pieces for recycling, it was his sister’s who had passed and he didn’t want to have it. Thankfully he remembered that my dad is a pianist and asked my step-mother if she wanted to take this piano home instead. My father had already one so he gave this one to me, but now he is keeping it safe from dust and humidity, and also uses it to record his music as it has an amazing sound! It’s such an amazing piece, I feel like it has a soul, so old yet so alive, and its sound is magical, actually sounds like a grand piano! xoxo

          • Jo
            01/02/2017 / 22:41

My best friend, Catherine has a 17 year old daughter, Sarah ( my Goddaughter) who taught herself to read music and play the piano. Is proficient playing Beethoven, Chopin and many classical pieces. And I am sooo envious. At home they have a beautiful old upright piano, which, like yours, has the tone and resonance of a Grand. I am soo proud of her.. X

          • Stella Asteria
            01/02/2017 / 22:57

What a blessed and talented girl! Not surprised she is your Goddaughter 🙂 I imagine how you and her parents feel when you listen and look at her playing! I even feel proud of her without even knowing her! Chopin is my favourite by the way! I look forward to revisit the Père Lechaise cemetery where he rests, it’s only 20 min walk from my new home! His body is buried there, while his heart has been taken to Warsaw as per his request. While normally I can barely pass across a cemetery, I find so much peace at this one!

  6. 01/02/2017 / 15:32

I knew this was gonna be such a fun post to read and it was indeed! Your job sounds so awesome and hands down to you for creating it all by yourself, that’s the way to do it love! Had no idea that you could play piano and if you’ve been doing it since childhood you must be preeeetty good huh? That’s so admirable! And yes, to a post of LoA, I find it so interesting and I do more or less believe it in myself. In 2015 I was so specific to believe, be grateful and give something my all and so so many wonderful things happened. I’d love to find my way back to it though, 2015 was by far the best year of my life and I plan on doing 2017 even better!

And again babe, congrats on your move to Paris! I have no doubt that Paris is nothing but magical to you and I know you’ll have a darling life there. With a lot of wine, and cheese, (and chocolate!) ofc!

Lots of love to you gorgeous! Xx

Ah I am actually not even close to the level I could play when I was 20 and used to be playing every day, all day. But still I can do some good things with it 🙂 I am so glad to hear you have manifested beautiful things in your life though your faith and gratitude my dear!! I hope 2017 will be even better for you! Now I have one more good reason to write this post with my manifestations, and hope to inspire you a lot with it! Thank you for your beautiful comment and wishes hun, we talk later! 😉 Kisses and happy Feb 1st!

This is such a great post Stella., I loved getting to know you better. I never knew you played the piano or that you moved out at 17. And I completely agree with you, we manifest things into our lives, not luck. I would love to read about how you started your own real estate & yachting agency. Thanks for sharing.

Girl, you were born to be a fashionista blogger! I’m so glad you had the support of your man to overcome your fears and launch your blog a year ago! You are so talented and have so much style, I really respect all of your fashion advice and opinions. They inspire me in my daily dressing! It means a whole world of difference when you have a supportive man by your side. I know I couldn’t be where I am today without the love and support of my husband. They are the ones in the shadow behind our blog but without them, it would all fall apart!

So glad I got to know you a little more babe and can’t wait to see what 2017 has in store for us! I have a feeling it’s going to be a very good year!

I feel so grateful about the man in my life, he is the best thing that ever happened to me and my favourite person in the world. I can;t imagine how my life might have turned out without him! His support is beyond words and expectations, and so is my love for him! <3

Love reading all about your life Stella! It’s wonderful to get to know you better, and through your pictures and words I get such an amazing sense of self. What an incredible life philosophy you have, and you are such an inspiration (especially in your business life). I applaud you sharing with all of us! Your love of fashion, food, and your partner just radiates in everything you do, I love it!
I would love to eventually start a blog, but lack of photographer (now I need to wrangle my hubby) and lack of time (two kids and two jobs) have stalled it, but you are always such an inspiration in your quest and how open you are in how difficult the process is. One, maybe not so random fact about me is, I’m super politically active, have a degree in US history and Constitutional law, was supposed to go to law school (changed my mind, but I may eventually go back), and may soon be running for office. (which is totally crazy!) I dream of getting back to Europe, I’ve been there three times and traveled to five countries, so dare to dream! Love following your adventures!
    XOXO, Rebecca

    • Stella Asteria
      02/02/2017 / 13:45

My dear Rebecca, first of all I am excited you stopped by! I can tell from your instagram that you are super politically active and I admire you for that! I wish I was a little like you on this but I feel so disappointed and hopeless by the political conditions in my country and worldwide, that most of my time I prefer to look the other way. Running for office is amazing, I feel you will have great success at what you do! As for the blog, I really of wish you find that extra time (and to convince your hubby for some photos) as your style is phenomenal and you would be such an inspiration to so many women, both for your style and your activism! Actually when I started the blog, my partner had no idea about photography whatsoever. But as soon as I started the blog, our best friends who had a professional camera gave it to us one day so that we try if we can do it ourselves without a professional photographer. We were both surprised of his amazing photos, and even he was surprised of how excited he felt by doing it. He found his hobby! My point is, you never know! The possibilities are endless and once you begin something, everything falls into place. At least from my experience so far with blogging, business and everything in between 🙂
Thank you so much for your amazing comment and wishes! It’s women like you who inspire me do go ahead, to never give up and to do my best, so thank you from my heart! And I wish you all the best for all your endeavours! Much love xoxo

  11. 02/02/2017 / 12:18

Really interesting and fun facts about you! I played piano for 6 years but I also never liked when someone says to me “Please play,I want to listen” or when someone asks me to teach them how to play some song 🙂

Aw I really liked reading these! I can totallyyyy relate to being timid in the blogging world. I waited so long to start a blog and muster up the courage, because I was so afraid what people would think! Also that’s really amazing you built a company from scratch! Not a lot of people can say they’ve done that. Much respect! I believe we are actually going to Greece this summer! Eeeek I am so excited. Maybe we can meet! Hope you have the best weekend lady. 🙂

Reading your comments always puts a big smile on my face my dear Emily, and this time is no exception! 🙂 Thank you so much for reading and for your beautiful words to me. It’s actually the first time I said these things about me out in the open, after a long discussion with my friend Tatjana who happily convinced me to do so. I was afraid it might sound like bragging (the timid thing again haha), but what can I do, it’s a fact.. I will write a separate post about that as well, how it happened and everything. So now about your big news, when and where are you visiting in Greece? I will be in Mykonos all summer long but you know how close is everything there, I can be anywhere in an hour or so! Awaiting for your news! Have a great start to the weekend hun! xoxo

Whilst on the subject of Chopin and piano music. Don’t you just love his Concerto No1 in E Minor
Optus 11 Romania. It’s Heavenly. And when I hear it played, it takes me to another place. And then, when Sarah plays the piece, and I look at her long graceful fingers glide effortlessly over the keys, well, I can hardly see for tears.

You are so right my dear Jo. When I am listening to it, it makes me feel so many different emotions all together, but mostly I feel it’s full of hope, despite of everything. My greetings to talented Sarah and wishing you all a wonderful start to the weekend! By the way how is your health now? I hope you are fully recovered! Stay warm and with lots of hot tea! xo

I shall pass pass on your greetings to the
”talented Sarah.’ It is not just the piano. As well, she makes most of her own dresses. And they are sooo lovely. Also, she bakes the most delicious meringgues. And, and, when she is not doing these things, is with her friends, and also fits in being an apprentice electrical mechanical engineer.
Oh, Stella. It is so sweet of you to ask after my health. This month finds me much recovered from last month. It was making me quite low in spirits. I’m not 100% but I’m hoping Spring and the prospect of warmer days will kick start me back into good working order. Specially as I’m in the programme to lead two long walks over the hills. As for hot tea. I am drinking, Lemon, ginger & Manuka honey tea. It’s in teabags and, oooh! It’s delicious.
        Keep safe and sound.
        Ever, Jo x

I love this post Stella! You are such an inspiration! And with starting your own yacht agency? Kudos to you! I can relate to many things you written, such as living alone at a young age (16 for me), eating healthy to feel good rather than to lose weight, and learning to play the piano. So glad to have met you through the blogging world; you’ve achieved so much in this one year and I can just imagine you going so far with your blogging career given how fashionable and wise you are (a great combo indeed!) Wishing you a lovely weekend ahead hun! xo~ Lena

First of all, thanks for coming to my blog and leaving your cool caption and I really enjoyed reading this post. Like you, I love to wake up early, today for e.g. my body woke me up at 5.3oam- I am my most productive and optimistic at this time, by early evening, it all goes to shit and I want to jump out of my window- joooooke! I also love your comment about the piano and the red wine. My parents sent me to school abroad when I was 11 and they wanted me to play the piano. I tried for 1 term but my teacher was a witch and I guess I did not have the motivation, so I stopped. But when I would come for holidays, my parents loved to call me when they had guests and say ‘Play something for us’. I was 11 and should have asked for wine, hell I should have got my teacher to get me wine before a class too, haha!
Have a lovely Sunday and hope you are settling into Paris well ( :

Biki what a great comment and hilarious writing! I really enjoyed reading, as well as I enjoyed reading your smart and original post about captions! Really great! Yes piano teachers can be very witchy haha, I’ve had one too myself. You should’ve asked for wine at age 11 hahahaha, and probably me too, it would be way more normal than those who ask all the time “play something for us”. Thanks so much for reading and stopping by, have an amazing Sunday! xoxo

  38. 06/02/2017 / 17:13

hello my friend, I’m little bit late but I red these facts about you with a very big interest. I love to read such a kind of stuff about people who I adore and love. It is the way to be a little bit closer to this person and to undesrtand many things. I also don’t believe in a miracle and I think all the expreiences in our lives happened from some specific reason. But some things we can understand after longer time, not immediately. And I also think, that only the people who don’t give up and who fight for their believes can be successful with their passion or with that what they believe. Happy to know Little bit more about you. your Martina

      06/02/2017 / 18:30

I am so glad you enjoyed reading these facts about me my dear Martina, as much as I enjoyed reading these 10 facts about you! Actually I do believe in miracles, but not in the traditional religious meaning. I will actually write a post about it to explain it further, thank you for mentioning it! 🙂 But for sure I don’t believe in luck, and you are so right my dear friend! Everything happens for a reason and we usually realise it only a long time after the time of a specific event. And it’s always for the better in the end. Wishing you a wonderful week my dear! Keep dreaming and believing, you never know! xo

    Dear Stella,
We have so much in common, I love the idea of waking up before sunrise and meditating, but my work start up at 7.30am :/, so my practice is to meditating on the evening, before I fall asleep 🙂

The fact that you live alone since you were seventeen and have your own business is fascinating, now I know that our paths didn’t cross by accident J.

I would love for you to write more about your manifesting, my friends and I also believe in Law of attraction. Every day we talk about our small and big manifestations 🙂

    As Abraham Hicks said:
“The Law of Attraction is most understood when you see yourself as a magnet getting more and more of the way you FEEL” .

Happy Tuesday dear and Valentine’s day❤💋
